Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We had lunch at Madan Tan. Overall, the food was nice. The Hokkien mee could use a slight improvement, as the prawn paste flavour wasn’t strong enough. The stuffed chilli soup was very nice, and the char kway teow tasted very good. We also ordered an Apple-Orange drink, but unfortunately we couldn’t taste the orange at all. However, the staff were very well trained and immediately replaced the drink for us. Excellent service Overall, I would give 5 stars and will definitely come back again."
"I found this newish restaurant near where I stayed in Bukit Mertajam. This restaurant was started by Madam Tan who came from Ipoh. Having parents who grew up in Ipoh, I have enjoyed having the Yong tau foo and hor fun in clear soup and the plump and crunchy bean sprouts. I couldn't find a reason to not give it a try so I did. The Yong tau foo was nice. The stuffed beancurds and fried wonton was good. I love stuffed eggplants but unfortunately they only had 1 piece available. The hor fun was not as smooth as those in Ipoh. It could be the water. The broth was flavoursome so it lifted the taste of the food. The steamef chicken was smooth and tasty. The bean sprouts did not disappoint. Overall, my family and I enjoyed the meal. I would come back again."
"A new restaurant serving good stuffed tofu, stuffed bitter melon, stuffed chilli and lady fingers, fish balls and eggplants. The dry wanton egg noodles and Hainanese chicken noodles are quite good too. The service is fast and friendly. Prices are reasonable."
"The food is delicious, and I strongly recommend the hainanese chicken, bean sprouts, and kueyteow series. It's a breakfast place that I come to enjoy every week."
"Definitely will revisit again. Miss this Ipoh food taste so much. And I just need to pay less than RM40 for 2person"
"Fresh and comforting food. The noodle soup is light yet flavourful, with fresh ingredients and a clean broth. Easy parking. Comfortable and conducive environment. Simple, satisfying local food. Will definitely come back again."
"Meet Madam Tan which previosly selling the same yong tau foo at Taman Inderawasih kopitiam. Portion : good soup : anchovy soup base yong tou foo : good koay teow : ipoh sha hor fun bean sprouts : ipoh tauge"
"A new shop around BM that serves excellent Yong Tau Foo. We came during peak lunch time during the weekends and we had to queue for around 10 mins. They don't have much space inside for people to queue so most ended up queuing outside, could be better to provide some simple seatings outside during peak hours. Service was pretty fast and professional. I was quite impressed by the vege-coated Yong Tau Foos, like the orca and chilli. The veges are fresh and the Yong Tao Foo inside has a firm yet springy texture, filled with flavour. The fried versions definitely can have some improvements. We felt that it was too oily. The fried aubergine tasted amazing but will be perfect if it was less oily. I got their Hor Ka Sai, and felt disappointed. It was way too 'kaw', and felt like it's just condensed powder and coffee, way too sweet even when I ordered less sweet. Overall pretty good Yong Tau Foos, but still can improve in some parts."
